An Optimal Real-time Pricing Algorithm for the Smart Grid: A Bi-level Programming Approach

چکیده
This paper proposes an improved approach to our previous work [11]. [11] uses Stackelberg game to model the interactions between electricity retailer and its customers and genetic algorithms are used to obtain the Stackelberg Equilibrium (SE). In this paper, we propose a bi-level programming model by considering benefits of the electricity retailer (utility company) and its customer. In the upper level model, the electricity retailer determines the real-time retail prices with the aim to maximize its profit. The customer reacts to the prices announced by the retailer aiming to minimize their electricity bills in the lower level model. In order to make it more tractable, we convert the hierarchical bi-level programming problem into one single level problem by replacing the lower lever’s problem with his Karush–Kuhn–Tucker (KKT) conditions. A branch and bound algorithm is chosen to solve the resulting single level problem. Experimental results show that both the bi-level programming model and the solution method are feasible. Compared with the genetic algorithm approach proposed in work [11], the branch and bound algorithm in this paper is more efficient in finding the optimal solution. 1998 ACM Subject Classification G.1.6 Optimization

Cooperative Advertising and Pricing in a Supply Chain: A Bi-level Programming Approach
Nowadays, coordination between members in a supply chain has become very important and beneficial to channel members. Through cooperative advertising, manufacturers and retailers can jointly participate in promotional programs. This action not only reduces the cost of advertising, but also is important to create a link with local retailers in order to increase immediate sales at the retail leve...
متن کاملOptimal (R, Q) policy and pricing for two-echelon supply chain with lead time and retailer’s service-level incomplete information
Many studies focus on inventory systems to analyze different real-world situations. This paper considers a two-echelon supply chain that includes one warehouse and one retailer with stochastic demand and an up-to-level policy. The retailer’s lead time includes the transportation time from the warehouse to the retailer that is unknown to the retailer. On the other hand, the warehouse is unaware ...
متن کاملA bi-level programming approach to coordinating pricing and ordering decisions in a multi-channel supply chain
This paper investigates the Stackelberg equilibrium for pricing and ordering decisions in a multi-channel supply chain. We study a situation where a manufacturer is going to open a direct online channel in addition to n existing traditional retail channels. It is assumed that the manufacturer is the leader and the retailers are the followers. The situation has a hierarchical nature and...

In the light of the emergence of smart grids, the functions associated with this type of grids in the blocks of the energy management system require the adoption of robust strategies in order to provide a higher level of control and protection. Under-frequency load shedding (UFLS) sheds load blocks when the frequency drop is below the threshold limit. In adaptive UFLS, in an advanced telecommun...
متن کاملApplication of Particle Swarm Optimization and Genetic Algorithm Techniques to Solve Bi-level Congestion Pricing Problems
The solutions used to solve bi-level congestion pricing problems are usually based on heuristic network optimization methods which may not be able to find the best solution for these type of problems. The application of meta-heuristic methods can be seen as viable alternative solutions but so far, it has not received enough attention by researchers in this field. Therefore, the objective of thi...
